Nice place for a dinner. The atmosphere and food were great. Food options are definitely not for everybody. Each dish has had a lot of tastes and textures. I would never think I will order salmon with chocolate and chia seeds. But it was delicious. Papaya salad was very refreshing and tasty

We came for lunch after hearing from many locals this is the best place to eat. Hands down they were right. It was so good we booked our dinner for the next night. Drinks and good I don’t think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.

Amazing all around! The vibe, food and service were excellent. We took our waiter, Ulises, recommendation on the starter -CEVICHE DE MARACUYA - it was perfect for two. I got the SALMON XOCOLATL, it’s one of the best meals I’ve had. My hubby got the RIB EYE which he also devoured. All of our cocktails were good too, our favorites were NIXTA-CATE & SALTO DEL TIGRE. Ulises was so informative on each dish/drink we had! These are not “traditional” meals, they put a lot of thought and art into the flavors that go into each meal so if you are picky or not as open minded about trying “different” flavors then this might not be for you. For example, our starter ceviche de Maracuya had blueberries... sounds weird but it paired beautifully with the fishes and sauce - we loved it. My main meal, salmon filet, was chocolate crusted and paired with the creamy goat cheese/mushroom was a DREAM. Also, everything is cooked to order on wood fire so main meals will take longer than usual which they told us upfront and another reason we got a starter. Ughh wish we had something like this in the states- will be thinking about this experience for weeks.

Everything about this restaurant is high quality. The ambiance, the service, the ingredients. Wow. My waiter, Javier, promptly greeted me and made a couple of recommendations: the passion fruit ceviche and the chocolate salmon. Both dishes were incredible. He checked on me frequently, making sure everything was to my liking. I'm thankful I was able to sit in the garden. I would've liked to try a dessert if I wasn't so full!

We enjoyed this place so much that we went back the following night. Every staff member were friendly and courteous. The cocktails were intimidatingly good! My favorite dish was the Moringa soup

If you're in Bacalar and looking for a spot that combines bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and an inviting atmosphere, Nixtamal is the place to go. The service is warm and attentive. The staff takes their time to explain the menu, making sure you get the best out of what they offer. There’s a real passion for food here! And the flavors OMG, definitely added to your Bacalar itinerary.

I’m giving it 5 stars because it had the best guacamole I’ve ever had in Mexico, and the staff was well-trained and efficient. They experiment a lot with flavors, sometimes a bit too much, but I appreciated their creativity. The prices are high, especially the wine, which felt excessive. The food is good, though the menu selection isn’t very large.
